my projects have gone from unapologetic folk,
to folk-hating, band-backed trip-hop,
studio remixes and improvisations,
and back again to something like the original frame.
this is not a rock band.
this is not funk.
it may make you want to move,
or you may just want to close your eyes and take it in.
as for my solo style,
the instrumentals are not meant to blow your mind,
the guitar is only a backdrop for the lyrics,
and the lyrics are a structure for the voice.
the vocals are the fundamental aspect of what this project is about.
if you are browsing this site in response to an ad seeking musicians, please note that the song samples on the "sound bites" page are only samples. most are nowhere near the level of instrumentation or production i consider "done" works. also, if listening to a very basic acoustic track, i would ask that you imagine how it could be changed, enhanced, or in ways re-written to move it toward a more orchestrated, modern, sophisticated sound.
the plan is to move things from cat power/ani difranco acoustic feel to something more like portishead meets tool meets cinematic orchestra. i can't do it without you...
