having spent the greater part of life in the east-coast suburbs of d.c., i moved to san francisco at the age of 23 to pursue artistic and musical projects. it was the experience of working with eclectic musicians in san francisco that inspired me to move to austin, tx, the so-called "live music capital of the world."

i met drummer pete powers in the summer of 2001, at a benefit concert, where he performed with his band The Alpha Rhythm.
we soon began getting together to play music, but did not form a band until 2003, when we began writing and conceptualizing for 'medulla'.
now, years later, we live together in austin, tx. powers currently plays with four bands, and records & performs regularly.

after 5 years of living in austin, i tried moving away from the acoustic scene
in order to build more of a layered, intricate sound. the goal was to fuse rich elements of electronic and
organic instrumentation with my soft voice and intimate lyrics.

now 30 years old, giving up my musical roots has proved not to be so easy.
when not working with a band, my writing tends back to the acoustic (what powers calls "folk"...although i would disasgree with that label).
current projects include both acoustic performance and more complex studio collaborations.
